Over the past few weeks, I have been fortunate to hear what a selection of Leaders are seeking from a new District site.
Overall, the site needs to work beyond what people generally think of a website. Typically they see a website as a generic digital billboard to advertise and promote.
The District website to go beyond this basic objective (and over time) to become the hub of the district – featuring news, events, Scout Group promotion, training management etc.
What I heard site needs to be…
- Easy to use
- Easy to update
- Easy to manage
- Easy to communicate
- Stunning and professional design
- Fund-raising opportunities
- Information is easily ‘Synced’ / pushed to people / can be subscribed to
- Using Open Source technologies to ensure information can be accessed by anyone by any device
How we will achieve this…
- Phase 1 – Core
- Phase 2 – Community
- Phase 3 – Communication
- Phase 4 – Continuity
This document is designed to briefly outline Phase 1 of this transition. If you have any questions, or would like to help the new District Media Team, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours in Scouting,
Assistant District Commissioner
